I was born in a small town in the South Caucasus. The town was known for its artisans and jewellers. Being on the crossroads of Christian and Islamic cultures with strong Mediterranean and eastern influence, since my early childhood I was surrounded by the works of incredibly talented artists and craftsmen. As a matter of fact sudden magic of tracery, intricate waves of metal becoming alive, bending and curling with mathematical precision and natural attractiveness always astonished me.
We should note that my grandmother had a very distinct artistic taste. She used to knit and sew all the time. At some point this really helped us up as we survived a very strong earthquake. As a result it left us with no place to leave and no clothes to wear. She used to knit warm socks and gloves as well as intricate and delicate items. This helped us tremendously back then. Particularly from her I inherited the desire to create myself.
Life however brought me to a different professional field. I graduated with diplomas in law and language studies and worked as communications and sustainability professional.
In the United Kingdom
In 2015 I fell in love with a wonderful gentleman, married and moved to the UK as a result. We are based in Kent with my husband, 2 little children and my brother neighbouring us. However, the desire to create never left me.
Our Father and Inspiration
For this reason my father inspired both me and my brother to explore jewellery making as his lifelong passion. The magic of creating objects of beauty carried us away since then. Today we are creating together beautiful jewellery pieces deriving from our ethical cultural background and experience and our feel of modern life utilizing a wide range of approaches and techniques. To sum up Varr-Dan London is a small family business. We established a web shop and displayed our items in designers booths in London. We are looking for developing our passion to something bigger. Varr-Dan London wants to share the sense of beauty with as many people as it is possible.
Our Philosophy
We combine traditions and modern technology to weave together gorgeous symphony of colour and wire. One can trace deep passion for art in each piece of treasure we create. Quality, design and ethnic elements are here to make you very special. Each handcrafted piece we create is like a new born baby with its own temperament and character.
We use the full range of technologies from precious metal hand-knitting to three-dimensional design and production of the jewellery.
Creativity, design and quality are the key words for us. Customer care and quick response are among our main targets. We see our mission in helping you, the real gem, to shine brighter.
Materials we work with
We love silver, its noble shine and patina and we use sterling silver (925 standard) and fine silver, combining it with hand knitting and casting. We also use Swarovski crystals, pearls and semiprecious stones as well as cover finished products with gilding (pink, yellow, white gold) and lustre (black and white rhodium).
