First Jewels in the world
The first jewelleries were made from perforated seashells and are dated as 115,000 years old. Later people started using bones, pearls, berries, stones and teeth. They usually were hanging jewels on a string or animal sinew as a pendant. Historians think that ancient people started using copper jewellery as early as seven-thousand years ago.

According to Wikipedia in October 2012 the Museum of Ancient History in Lower Austria revealed that they had found a grave of a female jewellery worker. It forced archaeologists to take a fresh look at prehistoric gender roles. A profession that was previously thought to have been carried out exclusively by men. How amazing is that?
Jewellery and statues in the world
Different cultures had different uses of the jewels. Undoubtedly they all had some symbolic meaning behind them. The insights into ancient cultures show that jewellery wearing granted status to people. For example, in ancient Rome the rank of citizens determined what jewellery they could wear. Within time jewellery became more accessible and people could afford having them easier. As a result the owner of bespoke jewels was not only having a beautiful piece of jewellery but it was also a longstanding investment. I reckon it is still true today.
Anyway for us the main concept when creating any design is to enhance the natural beauty of the wearer and underline their individual beauty.
