Discover Captivating World of Jazz. Did you know that a whole month is dedicated to a specific genre of music? Well, yes. It is April and the music style is Jazz. Besides appreciating jazz literally all April long, the event was marked to hold aloft the history and heritage of the genre that has truly enlivened our lives with dance and disco.
Flashback
I do remember being a student, I adored month of April. It was not only because of the Spring but also partially because of this amazing festival. Just imagine the weather is becoming warmer, the Sun shines so intensively as if it is smiling, bloomed trees fragrance is in the air, the evening streets are full of people roaming and enjoying calm breeze of the evening. Indeed it is Jazz Appreciation Month. From every corner one can hear the cords of contrabass playing rhythmic sounds under which you can feel your heartbeat. From the left corner one can hear the famous Louse Armstrong, from the right – Duke Ellington. A bit further one can hear singing Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald. Meanwhile JAM sessions are absolutely amazing. Mmm, couldn’t be more full of life.

Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. As jazz spread around the world, it drew on national, regional, and local musical cultures, which gave rise to different styles.
Jazz music is an enchanting blend of more than one ethnicity. Additionally it has got the American and European interpretation of classical music. West African culture and folk songs influence it hugely. Jazz music has it all — a melody that lives with you, the harmony that makes you feel better, a rhythm that plays with your heart. The last but not the least the outstanding improvisations that set this genre apart.
JAM stimulates and encourages people of all ages to participate in jazz – to study the music, attend concerts, listen to jazz on radio and recordings, read books about jazz, and more.
Characterized by blues notes, jazz became the signature dancing music at nightclubs while inspiring improvisation to bring something newer and hipper every time as the music evolved.

JAM was initially funded by the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation. It encourages people every April to participate in jazz-related activities and appreciates jazz musicians all over the world. So get ready to listen to magnificent Miles Davis and john Coltrane.
